Pastel studies

Two pastel studies that were completed within the past two weeks. If everything works out (does it ever?), these paintings will be made into larger, more intricate, oil paintings. I hope to start on them soon.

My most precious piece of art

Our new baby Shaela! Daddy loves you Shae

It's been way too long since I've updated

So here are a few images that I've been working on during the last few weeks. I recently finished a large commissioned work which took up most of my time (pictures of that to come).

This is what's on my easel today

This is where I started and finished today. Probably at the half way point. I'll hopefully work into the face and add his halo tomorrow.

This is an older painting that I used to practice taking pictures of. So I'm at the point where I've realized that I know absolutely nothing about photography, but this picture doesn't completely suck (meaning it sort of looks like the painting......sort of).

Big Youth, detail, 18" x 24", 2009

This is a detail of a Big Youth painting that I'm still working on. I definitely need a circular polarizing filter (whatever the hell that is) to eliminate all that glare (so I'm told).

Newest painting: I Never Run Away

Here's my newest painting entitled "I Never Run Away" , but I might call it "Pass Me My Lazer Beam", it's a toss up.
I don't think this picture does the painting justice, I need more practice using my camera.

Same painting, different picture

Taking accurate pictures of your art is a whole other art form! I had no idea what I was getting myself into. So here's another, hopefully better, detail of my painting. Thanks Pops for hooking me up with the literature I needed to start clicking my camera.
After I posted the new picture I realized how elongated the first picture was, I think this represents a better idea of what the painting actually looks like. I'll try to upload the full painting soon.

My first blog!

Alright, I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm going to try and post a quick detail of my painting "Rastas Never Die". (please excuse the poor picture quality)
